419(remastered)

This mixtape marked a significant shift in UK music, particularly in 2016, hailed as one of the best years for music in over two decades. Following the BBF album earlier in the year, "419" showcased intricate and forward-thinking beats, contrasting the stylized concept of "BBF" with its aggressive, hard-hitting sound. Drawing inspiration from various genres like Dub, 140/Dubstep, UK Hip Hop, US Hip Hop, and Chicago Footwerk, the mixtape exemplifies Hyperdub's ethos of artist freedom. "Skywalker" stands out prominently, with its use of the Kate Bush "Wuthering Heights" sample, evoking instant excitement. Stories circulate about its impact, even reputedly catching the attention of 2Pac. Honestly, this project is some of the heaviest and most edgy hardcore hip-hop music i’ve ever heard, but it hits just right. Each track is pretty awesome and I love walking through hallways listening to it feeling like a supervillian. Babyfather's innovative production style influenced a wave of bare-boned sampling across the UK and US music scenes, yet the mixtape often goes unrecognized, despite its significant impact over the past five years.
