Lil Big Man

This EP is truly an amalgamation of all abstract hip hop that came before it, it is a super real and human project that delves into various topics of uncertainty and depression. It tells the “coming of age” story of a young Maxo growing up in Los Angeles and grappling with the real world thoughts of a self aware young adult, often alluding to his wishes for his future, wanting to live without looking over his shoulder comfortably with a big house and an even bigger chain. He reaches into ideas of mortality and wanting to leave his mark before he’s gone. His lyrics are very smart but also straightforward, he preaches his word over mostly slower low-fi beats with smooth vocal samples, though a few songs have a more traditional hip hop production. Overall this project is a very solid piece of music along with an amazing story of a young black man grappling human thoughts and concerns.
