COMETA

This project is extremely unique and definitive, it has its own wonky and cassette grunge-esc vibe. The album kicks off with "Ani," a groovy and breezy love song where Hakim explores his own psychology of love. With its crunchy drums, waves of delay, and a burst of guitar noise reminiscent of Alan Licht, "Ani" offers a sonically unique experience. "Happen" starts with dreamy psychedelic organs before settling into a slow, strummed-guitar groove, with Hakim delivering lyrics in a near whisper, capturing the essence of a newfound love. Many tracks in this project all sound extremely different but by using the same techniques, vocal manipulation and grungy/more dark ambience and instrumentals. Throughout COMETA, Hakim skillfully blends rough-hewn lo-fi rock with soulful production, as seen in "Feeling Myself," where plucky synths and a pitched-down drumbeat create a chill retro-futurist vibe while the lyrics express raw passion. Despite its hyper-focus on love, COMETA showcases a variety of stylistic fusions and meticulous soundcraft, reflecting Hakim's commitment to exploring the intricacies of romantic relationships with intimacy and depth.
