Let the Sun Talk

This album is an extremely raw and personal project made by Mavi, the production is somewhat lackluster at times but that just goes to preach the kind of humanism approach to music Mavi has, constantly putting himself on a plane to see eye to eye with his listeners, to truly convey his real emotions and thoughts. I almost see some of his tracks off of this project as just purely him emptying his conscience while also making it sound good. While the sound is not completely new Mavi took the sample heavy lyrical hip hop genre and merged it with low-fi beats, he pays homage to his lyrical idealism in the line “What kinda songs you make? / I make the kind you gotta read, baby.” in doing so Mavi defines his work as thought provoking and introspective. This is an insanely good debut album and I recommend everyone who is into hip hop to check it out.
